The chef, staff and entertainment are wonderful during family events! The only issue that I experienced was that there was not enough room in the dining space to accommodate the residents, family and friends. Tables had to be set up in the hallway preventing access to the entertainment and made it very difficult for people to navigate especially with walkers or wheelchairs. The last event i attended, my family and I had to sit in the hallway and we felt disconnected from the fun. I would hate for this to prevent anyone from feeling welcome to come because it's such a great time for us all to…

The chef, staff and entertainment are wonderful during family events! Had the pleasure of meeting and transporting patients with Romeo. Good conversation and he really cares about the people that he accompanies to their appointments. Great guy. He is a keeper!!

For the price people pay for care, Brookdale knows it can do better.
Our father has been a member of the Brookdale Baywood community for 4years. He has made many friends, enjoys their many activities, and wonderful food. Brookdale’s professional, competent and caring staff are stellar. We have to rely heavily on them since we live in another state. Brookdale cares for our father as if he were family. We trust Brookdale.
During our loved ones time in Memory Care, the level of care has been less than acceptable. Much of the staff speak various languages & have heavy accents. This makes it difficult for residents to understand what they are saying. I even have to ask them to repeat themselves because it is not clear as to what they have said. Staff is either new & untrained, or have been there long enough to be burned out not caring about their responsibilities to the residents. So many issues with cleaning & the quality of food. Most residents go around barefoot & with fithy greasy hair. We've been told that residents can't be made to shower, but what about using a cleansing shower cap or dry shampoo? It's concerning that residents hands are not washed or given sanitizer before and after meals. Is this really the "Brookdale Way" I ask? We are just asking for what is paid for & expected, decent human kindness & care for our family members. I hope Brookdale management will do something to rectify these i
We just had Motheres Day dinner with our mom at Brookdale. The food was delicious and everyone there is so kind to our mom. Chef Bob went out of his way to make us feel welcome. We look forward tto more gatherings like this. Thank you for taking such good care of our mom. And, for making us feel so welcome.
