Horrible place, staff is not properly trained, food is terrible. One tenant actually came to me while visiting and asked to bring her some good food. They won't let visitors and tenant talk in private. The staff won't allow tenant to leave property for appts. to doctors or important matters . Staff is very inconsiderate to their needs. Warning: If you have a loved one who needs care do not choose this one.
Our loved one did not care for the food. She also mentioned that at times it was not enough and tasted like frozen food. No activities at all. My biggest disappointment was that I paid her rent of [fee removed] for [date removed], she passed away on [date removed] and they would not give me any refund at all. D&L stated that they couldn't give me a refund because they needed to pay your company. I was very good about paying her rent on the 1st of every month. That was a lot of money and as I said, I was very very very disappointed.
The home was sold right after my mom passed away in [name removed], I can only comment on our experience with that management team and the caregivers at the time. The home, staff and management were perfect in my opinion. We loved the kindness and care our mom received and the food was amazing.
This is what the standard should be, my dad just loves it here! The staff and care is exceptional. Keep up the great work! Also very clean and well kept and in a beautiful location. The lemons and grapefruit in the backyard are also amazing. All of the residents are happy and very well taken care of.
Please don't let your loved one stay here. They will not take care of them, but they will take all of your money. My mom came here, entering with her health improving. Immediately her health declined, with the staff here saying the liquids leaking from her legs and arms was completely normal. So "normal" that she died on their watch within 6 days of arrival. Again, her health was on the mend until we walked through their doors. Very sad. Do not trust them!
It's a terribly stressful decision to place a loved one into a facility such as this. Unfortunately, you're forced to rely on strangers to provide your family member with care, and in our case, I feel they failed my grandmother and in doing so, failed our entire family. While the staff seemed nice and the house appeared clean, my grandmother complained that the staff was rough with her and that she experienced quite a bit of pain when being moved around. She had recently had neck surgery so you'd assume that they would have taken extra precautions to ensure her comfort. Additionally, she began to experience severe edema and when the staff was asked about it, our family was told that it was "normal". The edema became so severe that she was literally leaking fluid from her legs and the staff simply put pads under her to protect the mattress. Meanwhile, my poor grandmother was left in wet clothes because her legs continuously leaked. Sadly, the situation became even worse and the edema moved up to her arms and the skin on her legs began to split, at which point staff contacted us and they were instructed to transfer her to the ER, where just 9 hours later, she passed away. She was in the care of this facility for six days. Just SIX days before dying. Our family paid $4000 for six days of, what I feel, was sub par treatment and we're now left wondering if we made a terrible mistake by choosing this facility. (I'd also like to add that they kept the full $4000 for the 5 1/2 days she was there. That's a cost of nearly $730 per day.)
My experience with this facility was extremely disappointing. Unfortunately, the priority seemed to be extracting money rather than providing adequate healthcare for my mother, who tragically passed away after only 6 days under their care. Prior to her arrival, my mother's health was improving, but upon entering the facility, her condition rapidly deteriorated. Despite my frequent visits and pointing out her edema that started upon arrival to the staff, they didn't seem to care enough to take action. The journey began when my mother, previously living independently, had a series of falls resulting in hospitalization and the need for neck surgery. After a positive recovery period at Rehabilitation, she was unable to return home or transition to this group home. Following a recommendation, we chose this group home. Initially, the staff appeared friendly, and the facility appeared well-maintained. However, it became evident that profit outweighed service and empathy as they demanded a significant sum upfront for her stay ($4000 for 6 days). Upon arrival, my mother's health took a sharp downturn. She experienced discomfort due to the constant noise and, according to what she told me during my frequent visits, was subjected to negligent care during basic tasks like bathing and being moved gently. Physical symptoms worsened, including severe edema, which the main nurse dismissed as "normal post-surgery". Despite my concerns, her condition continued to deteriorate rapidly with no one on staff taking action to resolve. Tragically, my mother's health deteriorated to the point where she had to be rushed to the ER per my instruction, where she passed away nine hours later. I firmly believe that the inadequate care she received here directly contributed to her premature passing. The lack of proper care, communication, and empathy makes it impossible for me to recommend this facility to anyone seeking quality care for their loved ones.
My experience with having my mother in this facility was quite bad. In the end, they seemed more interested in extracting as much money out of us over providing good healthcare for my mother, who passed after 6 days on their watch. Mom’s health was on the rise until the day she arrived at this facility. Once she arrived, things took an immediate turn for the worse and the nurses took no action that I was made aware of to help make her better. I cannot in any way recommend this facility.
