Desert Springs Escondido

Desert Springs Escondido, and its owners came at a time when my mother could no longer stay at her previous facility due to mobility issues. She had been into different rehabilitation facilities, and we were looking for a long-term, stable, loving environment for her to finish out her days. Her dementia had reached the point where she needed this full-time care. However, most places we had visited, provided inconsistent communication and care coupled with a lack of a disciplined approach to care and love. The minute she arrived at Desert Springs Communities, she was accepted, loved, cared for, and never lacked for attention nor good/healthy meals. Her 2+ years with Daniela and Mark were some of the best not only for her, but for our family. We were able to come and go freely and often. They were able to communicate her care plan and care status effectively and as needed. I was able to communicate with them and they were able to communicate with me with no issues that I can remember. They never made us feel as if we were bad family members for not providing the care ourselves. My father‘s health was failing after four years of dialysis and began to experience heart failure. He had his wits about him and didn’t want to leave Mom in a position where she would not be cared for and loved. We truly became part of Mark and Daniela’s family and they a part of ours. I lived across the country and visited as much as I could while running a business. Mark would sometimes call me via FaceTime to let me talk to her, and he was always willing to answer the phone and let me do the same. We never saw any indications of poor care, cleanliness, nor attention to any of the patients. The Lauher’s are salt-of-the-Earth people and will respect the wishes of you and your loved ones. I think the best compliment I could share with them and with you is that my mother’s hospice and Medicare plus nursing staff always called me with updates for my mother. Their frequent comments, such as “you won the lottery with the Lauher’s” or “your mother skin is beautiful… you can tell she is cared for” and “this is an incredible care your mother his receiving”. Each of these comments were unsolicited and very much appreciated. We as a family are so grateful for Desert Springs Escondido, and the Lauher family for all they have done to care for our wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

After a couple falls at home, my father couldn't safely live on his own anymore. We got high recommendations from his in-home service care folks about Desert Springs Escondido, and fortunately they had space for us. In the time he had there, we got to know Mark and Daniela, and they were incredible blessings for us and my father. After some years of him living alone, and always being concerned for his safety and health, it was a big relief to know he was somewhere that he was safe and well cared for. The house is beautiful, very clean, and we always felt welcome there. The food is incredible, and they are very flexible about working with each client to be sure they're getting good food that they like. I can't say enough good about Mark and Daniela. They're very warm and care deeply about the folks in their care. They were quick to contact us whenever any issues or concerns arose, and are fierce advocates for their clients. When going through the decision making process, we had contacted a couple other places, but we never felt like we should have gone somewhere else, on the contrary we always felt very fortunated that we found them. We will always be grateful for the care they provided my father and the blessing they were to us.

I know that reviews are super important-- I know I look at reviews and try to discern whether they are accurate or not. I say that because I have only good things to say about Desert Springs, so one might think that my review is made up--it is not. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. Mark & Daniela are absolutely, completely, truly amazing care givers. All of their work is done with attention and love. They display every day, in big and small ways, what it means to live life with love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, grace..... The home is so clean (never smells bad nor does it smell of chlorine) and beautiful (meticulous attention to detail, beautifully tiled, artwork on the walls, etc). The food prepared is healthy and delicious, home cooked with great care. The residents are always clean, shaven, well dressed, clearly lovingly cared for. Mark and Daniela have been doing this work for many, many years. Their wealth of experience is invaluable. All of the other professionals (i.e. hospice nurses, social worker, etc) told us that this place is the best, and we agree. We cannot imagine a better place for our loved one to spend his last few months of life. At his home he was not eating or drinking well, had several falls, needed greater attention and care--all of his needs were attended to at Desert Springs with the greatest of warmth and professionalism.
