My very good friend (over 45 years) was placed in Larisa Sweet Home 2, on 12-22-25 until she passed away 3-7-26. She was placed there after a hospitalization and a course in a rehab facility. She had Alzheimers that was in the high moderate to severe stage. She had a lot of difficulty speaking and communicating her needs at this point. This house is large, very clean but the care givers did not show compassion or spend anytime with my friend other than doing basic tasks. I went to this home and saw my friend very frequently. The technique used in assisting her to ambulate (walk ). was poor.…
The technique used in assisting her to ambulate (walk ). was poor. Caregivers needed more training. I never saw any activities for residents other than placing them all in front of the large TV. The care assistants were mainly on their cell phones during down time. Visitors were asked not to visit during meal times, so I really have no idea of food quality. When I asked questions about basic care I was informed through my friends son, the manager had called him very upset, stating my questions were stressing her staff out and if I didn't stop asking questions I would be banned from seeing my friend. Truly my questions had always been done in a very respectful tone. The owner did not reach out to me, I was also banned from texting the manager, she told the son she would block my texts to her. I did call DHS group home division at this time and spoke to an investigator, she informed me only the MPOA could ban me from seeing my friend, not the facility owner. My friends son told me he wanted me to be able to see his Mom. I continued to see my friend until she passed away. I just wish my friend had better care at the end of her life. But I did not ask further questions. The staff just let me in but barely spoke to me. Also the 2 weeks she was placed on Hospice after her last hospitalization, at this facility unfortunately. I wanted her to go to Hospice of the Valley, and believe she could have qualified for their inpatient unit. I give this review after a long career of being a RN and Nurse Practitioner for 40 + years working in hospitals and an office setting, and only retired 3 years ago. I would not recommend this facility to anyone needing assisted living, memory care. The most important aspect in choosing a facilities is a caring owner and staff, who communicate, show respect, compassion and have a welcoming demeanor to people who are important to their resident.
Very nice home for loved ones!
