I'm staying in Phoenix Manor and something that people need to be aware of is that the application is quite extensive and over 60 pages. I could be wrong and I didn't check on this, but I don't think a person can physically take a copy with them beforehand and review it. If and when a person gets into the complex, they need to allow extra time to review this extensive agreement because several sections need to be signed. It's the longest lease that I've ever come across of all the places I've rented out or have applied for. There is no food so I have to buy my own. They have 1-bedroom,…

They have 1-bedroom, 2-bedroom, and studio apartments. I'm in a 1-bedroom and their 1-bedrooms and studios are single units so I don't have an apartment above me, which is an advantage. I'm in a 1-bedroom that's around 500 square feet and utilities are technically included. In other words, it's all-inclusive. It's about almost $1200 and it is a property that accepts the two vouchers that I have applied for. One of them is the Section 8 voucher, and this is a Section 8 property. They are gated. It's not a good area of Phoenix but they have night patrol and provide us with a security company's phone number. A person can call that if they notice something fishy or need help. It's a nice property, especially after the remodeling they are doing which is about to be completed. It's very clean but like any community that allows pets, there's going to be some residue on the concrete walkways but it's understandable that it's not going to be spotless. I'm not thrilled with it either but it's not like there's animal matter flying around everywhere. In general, it's very clean. They put in more shrubbery and trees so it's very peaceful, especially to go for a walk throughout the property, for those elderly people who like to get their circulation going. They have an auditorium where bingo is played. In the office building, there's going to be a room where people can play cards for fun. There is also a library here and from what I understand, there is an indoor kitchen facility where people can have events and prepare food. There are a couple of ponds that have water gurgling up with at least one of them having colored lights which is beautiful and peaceful. They planted a lot of grass too. There is going to be a lounge area with a large-screen TV. They post electronically on the tenant portal and deliver paper copies of their newsletter so they do keep people up to speed on activities. Not all seniors are using computers so they do distribute paper versions of the newsletter. In general, the staff are highly professional and very friendly. I know they've been having difficulty because of the office having to relocate two or three times. They've been doing well to serve the public in spite of the remodel, especially with the difficulty with the air conditioning. They've also been having phone and internet issues on and off and they've been working through that. It'd be nice if food was a possibility, even at least once a week. It'd be nice if it's going to be part of the activities, even if it was once a week like Wednesday evenings or Sunday evenings. I think I would feel more valued as a tenant here. I know we have a community center that's separate from them so maybe I need to pay a yearly membership because I understand there's a meal for each week or each day or whatever. But it would be nice if there was a meal once a week.
I Have lived at Phoenix Manor for 20 years and I love it here. Yes right now the landscaping looks yucky, but they are in the process of putting new landscaping in and a new sprinkler system. They will be putting in 56 trees and grass as well as stone in some places. You have to remember they have to conserve water as there is always a water shortage in AZ. The staff here are great and we even have a residents concern committee. There are activities for everyone and more to come, even a boccie ball court . Also the apartments are beautiful and you can"t beat the price that even includes…

We moved into Phoenix Manor. I love it here. They have one and two bedrooms. They have vinyl wood flooring, appliances, and bathrooms. I have a tub. I would prefer a shower because you've got to put your leg over the toe, and I'm scared to fall, but it has bars. Their bedrooms are a good size. It has a lot of closet space. There are no storage places. The staff members are nice. They don't serve you food. They have bingo and karaoke. On Tuesday, they had somebody come down with food boxes. They have two swimming pools and a Jacuzzi. They have two washers and dryers for every section. I don't…

They're digging holes everywhere. There's data and security. The neighbors are all good.
Since the remodel the apartments are ok, no carpet now, and lots of kitchen cabinets with little space in them. the laundry is in some of the buildings but they are junky and don't work and leave your clothes soak and wet. construction left lots of glass parking lot and dirty sidewalks. This is dangerous for seniors trying to take leisurely walks. lots of hazards and "holes " in the ground. maintenance is not there. it took a whole month to tighten a faucet in a new tub to be able to shower. This is not assisted Living, it's independent living, but some residents need lots of help. I would not recommend this place when there are newer communities for less and have washer & dryer in the unit.
We have chosen Phoenix Manor. I think it's a great community. I met a lot of people there already and I've been there a few times. It's highly rated, it is. All the amenities and everything are great. It's a great place. It's secured. The whole place is all one floor, so there are no stairs, and that's what I need because I have COPD. I can't breathe that much, so I can't walk up and downstairs. They took us on a tour and we walked around. Everybody is friendly. Everything seems to be like the way they say. They're pretty good people. It's quiet, nice and comforting. I walked through there just to see everything, and they showed me some places inside to see if I would be interested in any of them. The staff who took me around is retired herself. She walked me around. We looked at how all the places are. The woman who has been handling everything for me has been very kind and thoughtful. For activities, I know they have a hot tub and swimming pool that's all heated. They have entertainment, and then they have other activities like sewing classes and things like that. They have a huge TV room and I like that.
For approximately 9 and ½ years, I resided at the Phoenix Manor. My stay there provided me excellent memories. Office management and staff, as well as the maintenance, painting, grounds and security staff, are very professional, courteous and helpful. I found my apartment and patio charming. The attractively landscaped grounds encourage the residents to walk about the beautiful Manor campus. The friends I made at the Manor are wonderful individuals, and I greatly enjoyed the many Phoenix Manor activities. I highly recommend the Phoenix Manor. Due to recent health developments, I moved last month to an apartment near my primary care physician’s and associated doctors’ offices.
First of all, the staff are friendly but if you have a complaint or need something done that's non emergency it takes awhile to get it done. The hot water pipes have been exploding like crazy. 3 times in the last 4 months. These apartment's don't have a emergency shut off valve too each group of apartments. When a pipe burst, the whole complex is without hot or cold water. If you call the office and ask for an estimate of when the water will be back on, all they can tell you is ( soon) Not an answer. At this place, no one works on the weekends. If something happens on a Friday afternoon your screwed till Monday or Tuesday. I don't like this place. I'm just here waiting for my sons home to be built so I can move out.
I visited Phoenix Manor for myself and my husband. It was very clean, very friendly, and it had everything we needed. The staff was really friendly, and very helpful. Everything looked really good, and that's why we liked it. Pets were OK, and I believe they have a dog park, which was one thing we were looking for because we have two small dogs. They have a library, and they have activities for the community. They give you a calendar, and it's got different activities that you can participate in. I think there was bingo, arts and crafts, and stuff like that. They have a big fountain type pond out in front with ducks in it, and it's really nice. We saw the apartment, and we were going to get into a two-bedroom unit, so it was really good for what we needed.
