The day finally arrived when my mother, Carolyn, needed to move from basic assisted living into memory care. The staff at Highgate, from management down to the maintenance guys (who surprised us by moving her furniture), made the transition as seamless as possible. Kim even found a free reclining chair for us to use in mom’s room. Once in memory care, she was treated lovingly. Brittney and Antonio were especially attentive. Sadly, mom has passed away, but her final days were about as good as they could be. We will always recommend Highgate if we are asked about assisted living options in…

My mother has been a resident of the Cottage at Highgate for almost 10 months. I have never met a caregiver that hasn’t been the model of patience and grace. I am so pleased with the care that she is receiving I would highly recommend considering Highgate if you are looking for a safe and caring place for your loved one.
Care team in the cottage are fabulous! They treat each resident like their favorite grandparent. Mom has been there over 2 years and is happy. Food is great. Perfect size portioned 3 course meals every evening. Fun activities throughout the day (I enjoy all the ones I am there for). Musicians that come to play for them. Field trips to the zoo, picnics at the lake and bus rides to see the zebras, highland cows and many other beautiful things in the area. They have a gazebo courtyard that they plant flowers each spring so they are free to enjoy the outdoors safely.
I volunteer every so often here and I just want to recognize the staff, and kitchen for the wonderful work they do for the residents. From the care and daily attention needed, to the beautiful dining experiences Chef Nicole provides... When I am there it truly makes my volunteering experience that much more enjoyable. 🙏🏼
Hi, I was asked to write a review of Highgate of Prescott. My parents moved in back in 2017. My father had dementia, and my stepmom was taking care of him. She got sick and it progressed very quickly. I believe she knew that she was going to pass and used her needs to trick my dad to move to Highgate. He didn’t want to and was resistant, but because of her inability to take care of herself and his realization that he could not take care of her, that he finally agreed. I could not take care of them because I live in southern California and am taking care of my sickly wife. My mom was only at Highgate for two weeks before she went to the hospital and passed just before Thanksgiving 2017. My father has been there since 2017 until August 2025 when he passed. He was on the assisted living side at first for a few years. On this side he was able to come and go as he pleased, but he was restricted because of his dementia. He would try to leave but the staff would distract him by telling him I was going to pick him up. The staff took care of keeping his apartment clean; washing his clothes, and they have an onsite cafeteria that kept him fed. These services were included in the rent. The food is pretty good. I would eat with him when I visited. My meal was only $5. When his condition worsened, then he graduated to the memory side of the facility. I jokingly call this the prison and the patients as inmates. On this side, the staff really watched him and took care of all his needs. They have alarmed exit doors on this side so the patients cannot leave without the staff knowing. I will say that my dad was different. We are Japanese and he would pull Ninja tricks. He would distract the staff by triggering one alarm and exiting another side. He really tested the staff and helped to improve their safety protocol. Highgate will keep the family informed about any occurrences with your loved one. When he would “escape”; he was immediately stopped, they will reach out to me to let me know. Any eating issues, falls, etc, they will call you. The staff are very kind and they care for the patients on a personal level as well. I will say the staff are great people. Everyone is warm, kind, caring and take pride in their duties. The director of the memory side, Isabel, is great to work with. She personally would take my father to medical appointments. Reach out to me just to let me know how my dad was doing. It was a true pleasure to be in contact with her, and knowing my dad was under her watchful eye. If you are considering having your loved one live at Highgate, I would encourage you to do so. I believe you cannot make any other choice in the Prescott area. To all the staff at Highgate, Meke Aloha and Mahalo!!! (Love you very much and Thank you!!!) Danny A.
My mom has moderate Alzheimer’s with dementia and can still do simple tasks. She had lived in an assisted living facility out of state for a while. That experience was not great. The Highgate has been a breath of fresh air. From the first day, everyone who works there made a point to know her name and greet her when she’s out and about. Their experience working with people with dementia is obvious in their patience and care. The facility is extremely clean, very cozy feeling, and we enjoy visiting her there. Most importantly, we feel extremely confident that she is well taken care of. I cannot express enough how great the staff is there, from sales, to front desk, to food service, the medical staff, everyone.
I am so happy we chose Highgate to be my mother's home for the past 4 years. Everyone there is so nice and comforting. I have no anxiety when I leave her since I know she is in great hands. I especially like visiting her on Saturdays, since I get to taste the delicious rootbeer floats that Kelly makes for all the residents and visitors! I usually eat my float while watching armchair tours in the great movie theatre room they have. I highly recommend Highgate!
Earlier this year, my relative needed a place to call their home when they determined that they needed more assistance for their daily living. A few years ago we had visited Highgate Senior Living and determined this was a place on our "short list" if and when the time came for a move to an assisted care facility. Earlier this year we needed to make that decision and Highgate was on the top of our list. The staff is truly very caring, compassionate, and have a friendly approach to making Highgate a special place. They have a beautiful facility that is well-maintained, they provide excellent food, numerous open areas for socializing, and daily social activities available. Our family has been very pleased with the overall experience with Highgate Senior Living!
